The plate is has one of best seals I've seen, no need to caulk it after install. The escutcheon for the shower head neck is not tight fitting, some small kinks on the inner side will make it stay put. Great for all around, definitely not for someone who can't sweat pipe. The trim kit is only plastic but that's fine. The valve behind it is brass. Also the shower head is great, providing a good stream of water, much better than expected.
