Review: Friendship and kindness comes to life - I recently read "The Friendship Bench" by Margriet Ruurs and it completely exceeded my expectations. This heartwarming children's book tells the story of a young girl named Tilly who moves to a new village and struggles to make friends. The story is beautifully written and provides valuable lessons about the importance of friendship and the power of kindness. The illustrations are also stunning and truly bring the story to life. It was also great to see a diverse cast of characters, it made the story more relatable to young readers and promote inclusivity. I would highly recommend this book to any parent or teacher looking for a charming and meaningful story to share with children. I used it in my classroom on transition day to introduce the idea of the Friendship Bench for children who feel lonely or sad. It is also really relevant to the school I work in as the local area is on the coast. The children discussed how the Friendship Bench worked in the story and how each child helped each other in their own way. ## Frequently Bought Together - The Friendship Bench| Picture Books for Kids| Illustrated Story Books |Age 0-5 - THE LION INSIDE - Macmillan Children's Books Be Kind --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.us/products/502313324-the-friendship-bench-picture-books-for-kids-illustrated-story-books](https://www.desertcart.us/products/502313324-the-friendship-bench-picture-books-for-kids-illustrated-story-books) --- *Product available on Desertcart United States of America* *Store origin: US* *Last updated: 2026-10-13*
