I feel really confident that I CAN become a coder and it's due to this book! One tip of advise: when you learn and practise the concepts via his website, try to apply them to your OWN projects. It will help make it stick out even more! A really great job and cheers to the author! Review: Perfect for a Beginner - Simple but thorough explanations in every chapter. Breaks it down into the basics and spends enough time with each new concept so that a beginner will properly understand it, unlike many online courses who do not explain the fundamentals adequately. Only criticism is that the exercises become repetitive and humdrum after chapter 20 or so. I'd recommend doing them for the first couple dozen chapters as it definitely helps drill in the syntax but afterwards, if you are picking up the language quite well, you will get much more out of your study sessions if you go to a JS coding site like JSFiddle.net and make your own code. This lets you get a bit more creative and will also ensure that you can write code and that it works the way you want it to. It seems strange seeing people who have already learned Java or C++ coming on here and criticising it for being too simple. It's obviously not meant for people who can already code. I love the system of bite-sized chapters, followed by hands on exercises that force you to be accurate. This book has engaged my learning ability in a way W3 schools have failed to achieve. For the first time, I am confidently learning a programming language. My only criticism is that the formatting of the book could be a little better and clearer. The site exercises are often explained in a way which I find very hard to follow. The one's which break down what is required into bullet points are much better. This would be a vast improvement. I'm dyslexic can suffer from 'wall of text' syndrome, even on small paragraphs. Overall though, I'm thrilled to be learning and feeling like I'm progressing.
