There was a lot of rice visible and when I've made him rice in the past it's been a solid 'absolutely not' from him. Again, I was wrong. I mixed this with his normal ration of kibble and offered it to him and he wolfed it down. Either I'm a terrible rice cook or this food is GOOD. He's been eating it for several days now and has cleaned his plate every time. While he's prone to stomach issues, he's had none. The only thing I noticed is that rice did block him up a bit for a day but he quickly adjusted and got back on his normal schedule. While I wish this had more vegetables in it (like the fresh food from the cooler or mail order), I'm definitely keeping this on his regular diet rotation. It's a game changer for dogs like him that can't or won't tolerate canned food or plain kibble. Not only does he love it, but the fact it is shelf stable until opened makes it easier for when we're camping and can't refrigerate his food all the time. I previously used their frozen meals and this is their first time with the boxed version. I use it as both as stand alone meal and as a topper... Topping helps ease the cost, which is high but worth it as my picky/spoiled dogs really do enjoy this and it gets them interested in their food. I can split a box between two dog (as topper) no problem. The boxed version is nice because you can fold it back closed and keep it refrigerated until their next meal. Smells good and fresh...Like tuna and sticky rice.
