So far no damage due to rain. In complete darkness, the front light is more than sufficient even on the lowest setting. Battery life seems to hover around 2-3 hours if I had to roughly estimate... but that does heavily depend on how bright you keep it, like i mentioned its not always needed to keep on the highest.
