X 7 in. inflated. I fly a lot and have owned a few of these lumbar pillows that have all failed eventually. This one seems to be the sturdiest of all of them. Totally recommend. **Q: can you sit on it?** A: I only used it behind my lower back. Sitting on it would be a lot more weight. . . Don't recall anything in the information that indicated the pillow could handle that kind of weight. **Q: Inflation noise?** A: Noise? No Noise. Just unscrew the cap, blow into it as much as you want to inflate, then set it behind your back and relax. We use these in our car when not flying. Also, when the trip is over, just unscrew the cap, give a squeeze to get the air out, then resnug the cap and stow in a backpack. Also useful in hotel or at home to support lumbar region. Turn knob to self-expand then tighten knob (so support stays firm when under pressure). Reverse process to compress again for storage.
