The blade holds and edge pretty well as long as you arent cutting wire or cardboard with it. The wood is very nice. The blade looks damascus, but, I have my doubts about that. It is constucted very well. I have had mine for two years now and like it very much. It is a little big and somewhat heavy, but, not much. I got used to it quickly. I love how the blade opens with the flip tab on top of the blade.
