I'm an XXL guy in literally everything I wear. I packed 2 pairs of pants, 3 pairs of shorts, 6 pairs of boxer briefs, 2 pairs of dress socks, 4 pairs of athletic socks, a pair of size 13 shoes, 2 dress shirts, 2 polos, 3 t-shirts, along with all of my toiletries (the basics) and my phone charger in this backpack. Everything fit!! The compression bags are fantastic for this backpack and I was very surprised how well it fit on my back. I didn't experience any sagging like I've read in other reviews. I packed smartly by putting the shoes on the bottom and just working my way up my back with the lighter stuff on top. I used this bag as my carry-on and was able to stick it in the overhead compartments of my Aer Lingus flight (which has a pretty tight restriction on its bag size). It was able to fit standing on its side in the compartment. It could also fit under the seat, but I'm 6'5" and legroom is at a premium for me on flights. The bag itself weighs a couple pounds, so just take that into consideration when you are packing. I actually have used this bag for work trips as well. I found that a laptop sleeve is helpful to purchase as their is no dedicated space for laptops in this bag. You can use the compression bags, but how do you plan to walk around with your laptop around the office? As far as durability is concerned, I have used this backpack on 7 trips now - always as a carry-on - and haven't noticed any tears or zipper issues. The water resistant packing cube is great at storing a damp rag or razor, but can hold quite a bit.
