The instructions do mention this? Should the bag be cut or not?** A: That's correct. 4-6 inches of the bag is left to provide the moisture and humidity needed to grow Lion's Mane. If the plastic is cut down entirely you will need to hydrate the block daily. **Q: Gnats flying all around, 5 days don't see any growth activities - followed online instructions - why don't you post the instructions on this page ?** A: Did you make sure to soak and drain water after 24-48 hours? Are you watering with 1/4 cup of water every 2-3 days? The instructions are available on this page as well as in the box. Gnats or fruit flies can be attracted to your mushroom blocks the same way that bananas and other produce are. Making sure there isn't a constant pool of water in the bag is vital. 5 days may be too soon to see growth. The growth time varies depending on the conditions of your home and your watering. If you have a spare plastic bag, lightly covering your block may be the best way to prevent gnats from accessing it.
