The Rainbird control box, presumably has a transformer rducing the voltage to 12v. As far as I know, certainly on my system, the solenoid works on 12v **Q: Can these be actuated from a controller operating with a 9 volt battery or you need to use another power source for actuating?** A: These are 24v so a 9v will not be enough.
