The ink is a nice dark blue colour and the pad is evenly spread with ink. You only have to press the stamper onto it once, firmly but not hard, for a nice even covering. It seems to be lasting well too, much longer than the previous one I had. The hinged lid works fine and is very convenient, saving the trouble of taking the lid completely off and having to put it carefully to one side each time. I'll definitely be buying this brand again.
