These are based off the old HGST drive line. Which was hitachi before western digital and Ibm before hitachi. IBM had the "Deathstar" line of drives and did a 180 and became the most reliable drives there are. Im glad these are not hyped as it saved me some coin over the golds. I currently have golds 6tb andc bumping 3 of them to 20tb ea. I will update in the near future.... Edit: 3 came in registered them with WD and I got 5 yrs. Legit. Comes in typical hard drive brown cardboard box. The packing material was some air pods, but there were a lot of space for the boxes to move and bump. But if they last 5yrs then they should be good..... Happy so far.
