Room in the slot at the back for a cleaver, and now houses all my kitchen knives, including a steel, a carving fork and an oyster knife.Not sure that I understand earlier reviewers' comments regarding an obtrusive label - on my block it is very small and unobtrusive so I have felt no need to try to remove it.Please also note the size of this block - it IS big, but that is just what I needed. If you only want to house a few knives, this would be totally over the top!All in all an excellent product, and worth every penny ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great wooden block *by O***7 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 February 2011* Super block for 12 knives, cleaver and scissors. As other reviewers have mentioned, the slots go right through so you need to make sure your longer knives go at the back due to the sloping top. At the front, longer knives will protrude through the bottom and scratch your workbench, damage your knives, or even your hand if you pick it up!Only complaint is that it is supplied with a large label stuck on the front which is difficult to remove, leaving a sticky mess of glue. Reluctant to use any solvents to remove this as may damage the wood. No doubt it will disappear over time, but can look dirty!The block itself is excellent. ### ⭐⭐⭐ ok, not great *by N***L on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 January 2015* The positives and negatives are all confirmed: the quality is ok overall, but the finish is ragged. You need to spend a while cleaning up the ragged edges and bits of glue. Also I can't understand the hole for the steel. Why not at the back where it is 10 inches deep?
