There are red rubber handles to use for this purpose, but I've found they get quite hot if left on for longer than 30 secs, I dont think its a good idea to leave them on over a gas hob, so only use them for moving then take them off, they are quite easy to put on so its no hassle, its just a new way of doing things.Its quite heavy really (for what I believe is cast aluminium, it feels like it is cast iron) but not overly heavy and the lid is solid with a SS metal handle so its oven proof. It is dishwasher safe too.I have only ever used this on a gas hob, so I can't say how it performs on electric or halogen hobs, maybe the handles dont get so hot but I'd be sceptical about that. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars A great bit of kit *by S***2 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 December 2016* This casserole works brilliantly on the hob or in the oven - and can be moved between the two with no worries about it overheating, as even its lid can withstand temperatures of up to 250C. Because it is made of cast aluminium rather than cast iron, it is light enough to pick up and carry. The non-stick interior is exactly that - it is seemingly impossible to burn anything onto it and everything can be wiped off it with a damp cloth. We have had cast iron casseroles for many years and have used them to cook many different dishes for our family of five. This casserole is in a different league of practicality, whilst still being big enough and strong enough to do the job.
