It would seem that way until you compare it to 'the named brand' of a similar size.Named brand is just over 5 inches (130mm) - this one, just shy (125mm)But, the biggest differance is performance - The named brands recipe seems to give more sparks which last longer!Bonus - The named brand seems to take less damage (smoother strike-surface) after the same amount of strikes.Conclusion: This has an inferior mix of metals, so only gives 10,000 strikes rather than 12,000 stikes at a lower heat. Quickly added a cord lanyard using the pre-drilled hole. Easier to grip than my “normal” sized rods and (once the protective coat is removed) throws a great shower of sparks and shavings.
