## Questions & Answers

**Q: Just exactly what are the "3 Stage Actions"? What does each "stage" do?**
A: This is a great question!  When you open the pruners wide to make a large cut and then squeeze the handles, the pruner makes it about 1/3 of the way through the branch, release and depress again and it goes about 2/3's through and on the final "stage" or "squeeze",  the branch is finally cut through.  Each of these three squeezes or 'Stages"  takes less hand pressure to complete and this is the purpose of the ratchet mechanism, to make pruning easier for each cut.  Occasionally it will take four stages or cuts to complete.  Bottom line, easier on the hands, and this is the whole purpose of this tool, to make hard cuts easier and reduce pressure and strain on the hands. **Q: Can left-handed people use these?**
A: I am left-handed and found no problem.

**Q: Is it also for cutting for small diameter also, like flowers?**
A: Hi Leon,Yes, they are great for small snips like deadheading flowers.  My wife uses them all the time in her flower garden.  This is one of the great things about them that if you open the jaws slightly, like the size of a blossom stem, they do not engage the ratchet mechanism.  And yet they can cut one inch branches.  (That is pushing it a bit but I certainly have done many 1" branches.)The light weight makes them good for more delicate jobs as well.Thanks for asking!Paul Grimm

**Q: is the ratcheting mechanism metal.**
A: Yes. It is a two metal ratchet system and very strong. No spring! So it will not separate or have a spring go flying when you put pressure on it.

My first ever secateurs so nothing to compare them to, but oh my they are wonderful. Easy to hold and use, no great force needed even to cut through thick branches with the ratchet mechanism. I've had these for just over 4 years now and they are still going strong. I keep the blade clean by wiping with with oil when needed. Highly recommended.

Cut well nice and comfortable in hands which does help with arthritis only thing is the catch is stiff and hard to open sometimes otherwise a great product which does the job I purchased it for would recommend this item
