It makes a quick job of ironing, yes with a lot of garments only one side is needed (I find this wonderful and quick when it comes to ironing children's clothes) I don't have a Brabantia ironing board but the 124 x 45 were the exact measurements I needed and it fits very well. I use it together with a cheaper non-metalised cotton board cover underneath (or you could use your original cover) I do this because the Brabantia Silicone Ironing Table Foamback Covers 124x45cm has tiny holes or dots in the fabric (intentional) and I didn't want anything to dampen the new felt I had fitted underneath (I had read this is what happened with a previous reviewer). All in all it is a very good combination for me. I did not buy another pad. **Q: Is it washable?** A: I have washed my standard size (49x14) in cold water gentle cycle. I use a cold air electric drying rack and slipped it on the board before it was totally dryer to make sure it didn't shrink. I put it on the board finished side down so the padding was exposed to the air and would not get bunched up or possibly musty while it finished drying. I didn't need to iron so I left it for another day before I put it back on the board again. It did not seem to negitively effect the cover. I have always had a front loading machine I I did not add any other laundry. It was at least 5 years old when I washed it.Hope this helps, Samantha **Q: can someone please tell me the size o this pad. mine is so worn out but can't find one that fits my 54X18 ironing board** A: My guess is that it will fit...product is 53.2 inches in length and you must cut it to fit. Place material on floor and ironing board face down on top of it. Trace outline with marker, remove ironing board and cut. You will be just a little short, I think. Other alternative is to find some heavy felt, like a 1/4 inch thick at a fabric or upholstery shop and trace your ironing board like I said above. I would prefer the foam backing to be thicker but that's my only real criticism. You should definitely regard them as a consumable - I typically get about 4 - 6 months use before the cover begins to fail. Easy to fit and remains firmly in position once the draw cord is secured. I usually fit over the top of my most recent cover to compensate for the thin foam. Unfortunately now only available in a randomly picked pattern so be prepared to be tolerant of the actual pattern received!
