fun and brutal spy/revenge action thriller
Despite the structure of the story feeling a bit muddled and like it needed tighter editing and despite some shaky camera work I found this movie to be fun and engaging experience. Its basically a mob revenge assassin story mixed with a government manipulation spy thriller with the occasional crazy action scene and some fun creative camera work. Like I said I think the pacing of flashbacks and revels could have been a bit better but the opening scene is awesome and has a first person sequence that includes a hallway fight and reminded me a bit of a movie called Hardcore Henry it was very fun and an excellent way to establish the protagonist as a force of nature. Some later sequences like a katana wielding motorbike chase very similar to JW3 were well executed and Fun. The finale showdown got quite crazy and I wish some of the in close camera work was better in some of the more chaotic moments but overall it was an exciting ride with some memorable moments and set pieces. The story works well enough but was a little predictable and most of the actors were very good. Not perfect but has enough to recommend fans of Violent action thrillers.

Really Disapointed
As I lover of South Korean films I was very much looking forward to watch this , I was so disappointed it starts with about four minutes of action lots of blood ,which was ok then total boredom and so many flash back I got confused who was who and lost the will to live, then the last ten minutes more action which was ok but seen so much better from South Korea .Service was good but on the whole not one to watch again

It's "hit girl" only older.
Amazing movie. Love the movies that are dubbed more companies should do it there a vast open market for them. The film kinds of reminds me of kill bill and a bit of kickass movie in it. I have always said that females make the best revenge victims. Yes it's English dubbed.

Spectacular Action Film, Yet Also Much More
Parallels can (and have) been made with Nikita, for the storyline, and Oldboy, for the incredible opening scene. While there are clear similarities the Villainess more than stands on its own merits, and retains a fresh individuality. The action scenes have received most attention from reviewers, but every shot is pefectly composed. Many of the quieter moments recall compositions from Studio Ghibli anime. Without falling back on dialogue the visuals work fantastically to communicate what and how the characters are feeling. Beneath the violence and fairly simple plot there is a lot of heart, with relationships between protagonists particularly well drawn for such an accomplished action film. It is easy to empathise with and have sympathy for the lead characters. In short, I loved the film and can't recommend it strongly enough.

Deathtoll
The start of the film is frenetic. The kill toll gets into seriously big figures before the timer gets to 20 minutes. If you like your action Crouching Tiger or Hero finessed then you're going to be disappointed, this throws in all the toys with abandon. If you're looking for soul-searching or deep character development then you'd need to look elsewhere. I liked Nikita, the film, not the series. This nods in that direction. In a couple of years, Hollywood will have mashed, mangled and thrown this at us (Atomic Blonde) in a dozen different ways. Get in on the ground floor and see this while you can before you get reheats.

La femme Nikita Korean style
Clearly derived from Luc Bessons original and best film, the Koreans don't make the error Hollywood did and carbon copy it but somehow manage to make something inferior in every way. The Villainess follows the form but has enough variation in plot to retain some much needed freshness. It's no standout masterpiece but is an above average action flick and is thoroughly enjoyable.
