Review: So quick, so buttery! - As a child I remember Smash, which to be honest, wasn't very nice at all so I wasn't expecting much from this product at all. How wrong I was, its absolutely lovely, so quick to make and to be honest very hard to tell the difference between this and 'real' mash. I have all the flavours except for garlic. Makes enough for 3 people, so plenty for us and any leftovers warm up well or can be repurposed for making fishcakes etc, buy it you'll be pleasantly surprised at how good it tastes and the texture.

**Q: Is the bacon actual bits or is it just flavouring? Thanks**
A: Yes there are small bits of bacon.  This is very popular when we are camping!

**Q: What’s the expiry date on these?**
A: The expiry date changes every time there is new stock delivered, the one I bought a few years back had a very long expiry date.  If you want to know the expiry of the latest stock, then you will need to contact the supplier.  The mash is lovely by the way.

**Q: Use by dates on packets**
A: The use by date and batch number are clearly shown on the box and packs I purchase. Look on the back of the pack lower down. If your box/packs fail to show a date I guess it is not produced by the original manufacturer.

**Q: What's the bbf date**
A: Thats impossible to answer as each batch is different. However when i bought mine they had over 12 months bbf, plus as its a dried product and sealed it would last years.

How wrong I was, its absolutely lovely, so quick to make and to be honest very hard to tell the difference between this and 'real' mash. I have all the flavours except for garlic. Makes enough for 3 people, so plenty for us and any leftovers warm up well or can be repurposed for making fishcakes etc, buy it you'll be pleasantly surprised at how good it tastes and the texture.

This tastes just like Smash used to taste when I was a little girl! These days, I think Smash is a poor version of what it once was, as it hasn't tasted so good for a number of years (and it always ends up lumpy when I make it). These Idahoan instant mashed potatoes really brought back memories of how Smash once tasted though. It has a wonderful full flavour, a creaminess, and the cheese is neither fake tasting nor overpowering. I didn't find it too runny when made up with the full stated amount of water either (some reviewers said they wanted less water than the amount stated). I've also had no issues making lump-free mash. It would appear that you need some very good skills to make this lumpy. To be honest, it's a very good price for what I think is the best instant potato out there. The only catch is that it apparently serves 3 people, but really I don't think it's three decent portions. For two adults (especially if one's a fella), it's two generous portions but you would have to be a bit mean to stretch it out further. Plan on making up to two packets worth for a family of four with good appetites, I think.
