I ended up using pliers or molegrips but I broke a lug in doing this. it's a pity that a good butt is spoiled by such a badly designed locking device. **Q: What are the Height and Width Measurements?** A: Hi, this water butt measures 18 inches across its diameter, at the widest point and 30 inches high, which includes its lid.
