**Q: Would the vest fit children that are 9 normal size 10-16in children clothes?**
A: The vests would fit a youth medium.  Hope that helps.

**Q: Does the whistle come with a string or lanyard?**
A: It comes with a long black chord.  This set is SO well worth the money!  I did a safari visual hunt for plastic zoo animals and the vests and pith helmets made the kids feel like they truly were searching for animals in the wild.  They even used the compass as they roamed around the house.  VERY GOOD set!
