I don't know if the light would be enough, but have been using Pure Pond since it came on the market. My pondwater is always crystal clear, and I swear by this product. Don't know if the UV light alone would give such brilliant results. In new systems it helps to iron out any ammonia and nitrite spikes which would otherwise be associated with an establishing tank and filter.Just make sure to use good porous filter media which will support a good population of bacteria or the bacteria released from these balls will mostly be lost to water changes.
