Review: Ugly Stik 7’ spinning rod - Have an Ugly Stik boat rod already, so knew what to expect. Was not disappointed. An extremely sturdy and capable rod. Quite striking looking colour scheme too. Plenty has been written already about this virtually unbreakable rod which represents excellent value for money, so all I will say is believe it! Has a nice action and can cast my most commonly used lures a good distance. I use mine with lures typically in the 20-30 gram category, with an elderly Mitchell fixed spool loaded with 10lb mono line and have caught Bass, Mackerel and Pollack from both boat and whilst coastal rock fishing. Only criticism - it comes without a bag. For a few £’s more, this would be a worthwhile addition. Also, an observation rather than criticism - the reel seat is relatively small and some reels (the foot) may not fit.

**Q: What is the rate in grams for the range of lure sizes that can be use with this?**
A: 40-60gr for 50m lunch

**Q: Would this be suitable for mackerel and pike**
A: There should be no problem at all with fishing for mackerel. The 9ft rod might be ok for pike, but it would give you some good sport!

**Q: Is the 7ft a 2pc rod**
A: Yes, Ugly Stik GX2 7FT is a 2pc rod. Very strong and light. I fish Pike and perch with no problems.

**Q: Is this rod suitable for Skerries plaice fishing utilising an Ambassador 7000c synchro reel?**
A: It is a very strong rod. I spin, lure and drop shot for Pike, best catch 5lbs and Perch 1lbs. If you are fishing from a boat it will be ok to catch the fish, but you will need a net to land as the rod will bend. The rod is light strong and very flexy, 7000c reel looks heavy and over kill for it. It is not a sea fishing rod.  Unbreakable. 7 yr guarantee. Good luck.

This was my first lure rod, I have caught a bit of everything on it and it handles whatever I try like a champ. Caught everything from roach to sea bass on this thing and I honestly cannot complain.
