Review: Lovely item - Nice item, but the plastic parts look indeed too cheap. Not very noisy, and definitely more quiet than my 5 years plus kettle I had before from Tesco basic. Water boils quick enough. Very light. Not an issue for me, but yes it looks bad with limescale on, because we live in south of England. For a chance, I wanted to try a more not so classic kettle and I love it. Now I hope it will last 5 years plus as well.

The only reason why we got a new one as well was because the lid wasn't fully latching anymore. Still has the same rather short cable for plugging into the wall. For standard height sockets this means around 1ft away from the wall for the base. The base works really good, very easy to remove the kettle and it finds it's home without any effort when placing it back on. Pouring water is very easy too, no drips down the front and can be accurately targeted in the pour. The weight is a little heavier than you'd expect but given it's mostly glass it's not too bad. The glass does allow you to easily see the water level and the blue LEDs provide a nice glow to show it's heating up. Handle is smooth and easy to hold, even for elders with limited grip. Super easy to clean down, and flat bottom makes for easy limescale removal. Overall, a fantastic simple kettle, one that we'll probably buy a 3rd one after this dies too.

**Q: Many reviews for the 21600-10 refer to condensation issues, which didn't arise with older models (eg 15082-10). Do all owners experience this problem?**
A: Never read so much bloody nonsense as these reviews saying there is condensation in the kettle. it's a kettle - it heats up water which makes steam. as the glass cools the steam / water vapour condenses onto it. Deal with it, it wont go away - if you don't like looking at it then you shouldnt have bought a clear kettle!

**Q: Bought this kettle over a year ago and have been happy but now notice the bottom that heats the water has turned a rusty colour. Anyone else..?.**
A: Yes, this is basically just a build-up of limescale from water with high levels of iron. It's not dangerous but does look scary. If you want to get rid of it, there's a home remedy of using baking soda or vinegar; however I recommend getting actual kettle descaler tablets. They work wonders and are easy to use.

**Q: “is this kettle better than breville vkt071 glass kettle?**
A: Well unlike these other idiots who reply and say they don’t know, I have actually used both kettles.

The Breville has better build quality and boils a bit quicker. The switch on the Russell Hobbs is very flimsy. The rest is aesthetics really, whatever pleases your eye.

**Q: Is it metal or plastic under the lid?**
A: The entire top assembly is in black plastic, apart from a stainless steel trim around the outside

Nice item, but the plastic parts look indeed too cheap. Not very noisy, and definitely more quiet than my 5 years plus kettle I had before from Tesco basic. Water boils quick enough. Very light. Not an issue for me, but yes it looks bad with limescale on, because we live in south of England. For a chance, I wanted to try a more not so classic kettle and I love it. Now I hope it will last 5 years plus as well.

Nice kettle, but the LED lights are nothing like shown in the picture. they are very faint and barely noticeable. Looks stylish though. and boils fast. 4 out 5.
