When I'm using my pasta attachment the motor can be on for half an hour if I'm making a big batch and there's no sign of over heating it just goes on and on and I'm confident enough with my machine that I let it work for as long as I need it. As another reviewer says, the difference is in the wattage and the bowl size. The artisan UK model has a 300 watt motor in the classic has a 250 watt motor (not 300 watts as Amazon currently lists!) which may not sound like much difference but probably is because the Kitchenaids have direct drive motors rather than belt driven motors like the Kenwoods so less power is needed to get them going. The artisan has a 4.8l bowl and the classic has a 4.3l bowl. The artisan bowl has a handle and is polished and the classic doesn't have the polished look to the bowl. Some people say you need the artisan if you are a real bread maker. The actual size of the machines are pretty similar, if not the same and of course, the artisan does come in other colours whereas the classic only comes in white in the UK. **Q: Hi, do you sell food grinder and sausage stuffer for this machine? The only differences are that the Artisan is slightly more powerful, comes in different colours(The Classic only comes in white) and has a 4.8 litre capacity bowl(4 litre for the classic) with a handle and splash protector. My mother in law has an Artisan which she loves. I decided to go for the Classic and test it out. It arrived broken. Firstly I must say that Amazon's return service is second to none. I completed the returns form on line and recieved my replacement on the same day that they collected the original. I can't tell you how pleased I am with it. I stood it next to my Mother in Law's Artisan to compare. Honestly. Unless you are really bothered about the colour I would'nt bother spending the extra money. Yes I know that it's much cheaper in America but so are a lot of things!
