But could this be compatible to the Thomas wooden railway?** A: Yes and no--the tracks & train are interchangeable; the cargo space is Brio specific (Thomas cargo is too big). Another issue to keep in mind is that the plastic pieces slide around a lot on hard surfaces. **Q: How do you turn on the engine? I installed the battery but I don't see any switch to turn it on.** A: To turn on the engine, you have to press down the front wheels by press down on the top of the train where the arrow is. **Q: Can the train be used without the battery without damaging it?** A: As far as I know, Brioche trains do not use batteries. We A LOT of them and none operate on batteries... they are very well made, hours of fun for my child.
