The old girls are both placid and patient, but poor wee Annie was a rescue when my friend got her and we don't know her history, but after a few months it's clear she was a) separated from her mum too early and b) it breaks my heart, but likely abused πŸ˜₯. She took to me right off, I'm definitely mum, and my partner she likes (most of the time) but after 6 months of acclimatising, starting with a baby gate on the end room so she had her safe space, a feliway plug in, lots of positive reinforcement and swapping of bedding.... she still barely tolerates my poor old girls! Every time they're close there's growling and chunnering (she's very vocal anyway!) and the slightest misstep and she'll go for them (though not really nastily, it's more like self defence even when self defence isn't warranted!). She's never hurt either of them, but we've basically been living in a war zone & the sisters deserve some peace at this stage of their lives!.. as do we!! So, I read the reviews and ummed and ahhed and procrastinated... and eventually bought a bottle (opting for feliway over a brand is never used). It's true it IS expensive and also true that the bottle is REALLY small (especially as the directions suggest spraying it EVERY DAY! I sprayed carefully on Annie's bedding, on the carpet at the entrance of my living room (one if the main combat zones) & on the blanket that goes over the foot of my bed (which is definitely the front line! If you are having litter problems I would watch Kitten Lady, or Jackson Galaxy on youtube, or consult a vet, as peeing on the bed is usually an indication that something isn't quite right with toileting. She has FLUTD (urine infections) which can be brought on more frequently with stress, and she has feline dementia from her age bless, and although the vet assures me the only one upset by her scared lost miowing is me, I couldn't stand to see her so distressed and with it impacting on her getting painful urine infections, I thought I'd give it a go. She's always been a lovely care free and affectionate lass but her old age is affecting her mind. Wow... First of all ...Don't go overboard with the sprays as first! With a good spread of sprays around her bed and path to the litter and food area, she literally went in to another dimension and came back with a t shirt! Dilated pupils, wide eyes, pretty much unresponsive with no interest in reality even when touched or picked up... but certainly calm! Once it wore off a bit from her bed area after a few hours she was a calm sprawly lovely cat more like herself, she slept all night and was bright eyed and bushy tailed for breakfast, but she'd had me worried that I'd given her a stroke all night! Just two sprays today and that's likely still too much, at least for her, but much better, at least she notices I exist and can function enough to hydrate herself! One spray tomorrow I think...
