I have my fish tank in the kitchen so you can't really hear it over everything else anyway! I would recommend getting an ornament to go with this rather than just using the stones as it looks so pretty! It can run up to two air flows at once but I just have a 30l tank for my goldfish so run at the lowest setting with one. I bought the pump as he kept swimming to the top for air, he hardly does this at all now so has definitely helped with the oxygen levels in my tank.
