Haba's "FantaStack" set is virtually identical and is made in China. It's sold elsewhere at Amazon for a cheaper price. The person who said she bought this in a local store may have bought the other set. If yours arrives marked Made in China be sure to return it. This set costs more because it isn't supposed to be. However something very strange: the design of the blocks I received in my box marked "Made in Germany" don't match the blocks pictured here, they match the blocks in the HABA FantaStack set that is made in China. The differences are not major, but they are clear if you look closely. Something is fishy. **Q: Could you please tell me where this is made? Thank you.** A: mine was made in Germany, but that was several years ago, i know they moved some of their manufacturing to China, but Haba is an excellent brand and I believe they are still in control of their production process and supply and continue to opffer excellent quality of goods. They are beautifully made high quality blocks as is reflected in the price and far more interesting than the cheaper alternatives. I would however say that the blocks were smaller than I expected (only 2cm length for the squares) and there are only 24 blocks/shapes.
