Review: Good powerful blowtorch for diy use. - Many years ago I used to have a Ronson blowtorch, it got lost somewhere over two house moves. When I needed to do some brazing ( hard soldering) I looked on desertcart to buy another one.... Ronson probably doesn’t exist anymore they certainly don’t do blowtorches. I did see however a really neat cooks blowtorch for a bargain price. Well the neat little blowtorch might be great for flambé but they certainly aren’t powerful or hot enough for what I needed. Back on desertcart I spied this Campingaz blowtorch, well I recognised the manufacturer from my camping days so I thought I’d give it a shot. Great little blowtorch. Fires up with its own piezoelectric spark ( had to use matches with the Ronson.) and has a fierce roaring flame. Did my brazing in a couple of minutes. I see some reviewers had trouble with ignition and with the flame cutting out, fortunately I didn’t experience any difficulties though I have only done the one job with it. I imagine it’s fine for the occasional job but if you plan on doing a lot of hard/soft soldering or paint stripping perhaps you should spend a bit more. I’ve attached a photo of the little block (centre of pic.) I hard soldered back onto my ancient air pistol.
Review: Great little blowlamp - This is the second one of these I've bought the reason being I left it outside for a long while in all weathers. It did continue to work the spark igniter being the first thing to go. I have used the blowlamp for soldering copper fittings making creme brulee and for lighting my wood fired pizza oven and it's pretty much been faultless. The spark igniter is a real bonus as it makes it much easier to light. Great little blowlamp priced reasonably

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Hi, I have a campingaz CP250 and am looking for the nozzle to go with it. Is this the correct one for the cansiter that I have?**
A: Hi I think the nozzle will fit on any campingaz cannister that has a screw thread

**Q: Are spare piezo electric ignition mechanisms available for this model?**
A: I doubt that it would be safe or practical to replace the piezo ignition system.
I would suggest that should the piezo fail you could use an alternative ignition system such as a spark gun or a cheap cigarette lighter.

**Q: Is it a 7/16 thread? Cheers**
A: I would assume so - the thread on the gas canister is 10.64 mm across, 7/16 is approx 11mm - takes any standard screw canister

**Q: Can you heat metal with it?**
A: Yes, enough to help loosen seized bolts etc; I’ve used this to help remove a bolt on a digger bucket that had been stood for a while. Clearly not enough to manipulate the metal though.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Campinggaz blowlamp
*by J***D on 3 August 2020*

This is the third one I have had of these, on the previous two, both had failures of the piezo ignition. This is ok for general handy work, but as others say, if you face it downwards, it often flares, and then puts itself out. It becomes rather annoying after a while. Basically, it's the old story, you get what you pay for. If you want quality, you have to pay the price.
