## Description

Heath Zenith Replacement motion sensor in white color, has sensing distance of up to 100 ft and 240 degree viewing angle. It features plastic housing. This sensor requires 120 Volt AC voltage for operation. It is suitable for HZ-5105-WH, HZ-5311-BZ, HZ-5318-BZ, HZ-5318-WH, HZ-5512-BZ, HZ-5512-WH, HZ-5597-BZ and HZ-5597-WH. Sensor measures 3.4 Inch x 3.2 Inch x 4 Inch. It is wall mountable. The 240 Universal Replacement Sensor has a white weather resistant housing. It has an adjustable range of up to 100 ft. with a 240 range of motion detection. It has a selectable light timer and patented DualBrite 2-level lighting technology for energy efficiency.

Review: Works great with dimmable LED bulbs - Following the advice of another desertcart reviewer, I built my own fixture using a Sigma 1/2-in 3 hole round lamp holder cover (B00C3YDK6C ), two Sigma weatherproof lamp holders (B00C3YDQ7K ), and this sensor. See the attached image. When first installed, using the incandescent bulbs from my old (failed, NOT H-Z)) security light, it would not turn off. I surmised the heat from one or both bulbs was “fooling” the sensor so I decided to try dimmable LED bulbs. It works like a champ. I have it set to go on at dusk for four hours at 1/2 power (still plenty bright with the LED bulbs) and at all times (after dusk) it turns on full bright with motion out to 59’ if the motion is at an angle to the sensor. I have not tested it for distance walking directly toward the shed on which it is mounted. The wires from the sensor pass through a rubber gasket meant to keep out moisture, one of the two prime killers of these sensors (the other is UV crazing of the plastic “lens”) although this could be augmented with caulk. It’s only been installed for a little under 3 months and we’ve had little rain (we’re in a drought) so when (not if) it fails, I’ll try to remember to report back.
Review: Newer design with less quality - This item replaced a unit that failed after a power surge. The previous unit was from the same manufacturer and had never failed. I’ve readjusted this unit many times— and it still randomly operates or chooses not to function. It’s going to be replaced very soon

**Q: Does the motion sensor come with the swivel bracket and half inch threaded connection in the back?**
A: It was easy to replace, swap over. Only the electronics were different

**Q: Can this replacement sensor work on a failed Dual Brite Model?**
A: Yes it will, it says DualBrite on the box and I'm replacing a failed 180 degree sensor with this 240 degree replacement. It comes with the unit and mounting stem with threaded nut, three wire nuts and operation instructions (which are also available online at https://www.heath-zenith.com/system/spree/documents/attachments/000/036/575/original/204027-01A.pdf?1565892709 )

**Q: Does this come with the Light Shield that fits over the photo light sensor to block out light from steet lights, etc.?**
A: IT DOES HAVE A SHIELD BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT BLOCKS LIGHT FROM STREET LIGHTS. HOWEVER I BELIEVE IT CAN BE ANGLED DOWN SUFFICIENTLY SO IT IS NOT A PROBLEM. ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS CALL THE MANUFACTURER REP . I I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THIS ITEM - IT PERFORMS WELL.

**Q: Should a cool led light some distance away, coming on, trigger this device to come on?**
A: It would depend on the distance. If it is close enough it could.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exact replacement for the Heathkit motion detector.

Wired in without any issues. Works like the failed unit it replaced. Our original unit was installed about five years ago. We liked it so much we bought a second unit two weeks later for another entry. The original unit failed within one month of five years after installation. The second unit we purchased two weeks after the first? It quit working two weeks after the first unit failed. I guess they are consistently predictable in their failure mode.
