They also take a lot less room in my vehicle and come with a nice bag to keep them from getting scratched when traveling. These stands could handle 15" speakers if needed but like most musicians, I have streamlined my act for high quality sound with smaller powered speakers and now these two smaller stands for fast setup and breakdown. One point I will mention is that these are not real tall speaker stands but that is exactly why I chose them. These are 6 foot stands which are 41 inches when closed so I appreciate them for their compactness, portability and ease of setup. You carry them both together in one back side by side. It doesn't take much to break a plastic flange. And then you basically have a piece of junk on your hands. Not so with this model. The bag that comes with it is a nice feature, too. It definitely helps with transportation. And the price was right, too.
