## Overview

Yasutomo Mineral Paper Pad features 20 heavyweight 11" x 14" sheets made from 80% calcium carbonate, offering a bright white, vellum-like surface ideal for watercolor, sketching, and mixed media. Tear-resistant, non-wrinkling, and bleed-proof, this acid-free paper ensures durability and longevity for professional artists and creatives seeking premium quality.

## Description

160 lb/240 gsm Mineral Paper is more durable than previous versions and holds up better to various art techniques, including alcohol ink painting, silverpoint drawing, mixed media and more. 11” x 14” pads include 20 sheets. Mineral Paper is made from 80% calcium carbonate which provides a unique surface for water based or dry media. A great alternative to wood-based paper. Tear-resistant, foldable, and non-wrinkling. Will not bleed through even when soaked. Mineral Paper has an eggshell-like texture that is a great surface for almost any medium, wet or dry. Its bright white vellum-like surface allows for crisp lines, saturated colors and just the right amount of absorbency for a wide variety of creative techniques. Acid-free. Bright white. Not recommended for oil-based paints or oil pastels. 20 sheets per pad. 160 lb/240 GSM. Pro Tip: For smoother color application, try “priming” Mineral Paper by applying water to the surface and wiping it dry before applying thin viscosity mediums such as ink or watercolor.

Review: Perfect for Pencil Drawing - This unique paper is simply perfect for pencil drawing. It's a smooth surface with just the right amount of fine tooth, allowing for high clarity and precision of mark making. It erases more easily than typical pulp paper, and without any damage to the surface. I do wish it was available in larger and thicker varieties. This material lacks the rigidity of normal paper, tending to flop and bend more easily. Must be handled with care. Still, I love it.
Review: Lovely paper, easy to use - This is fabulous paper for working with any liquid media - alcohol ink, watercolor, etc. Highly recommend.

This is fabulous paper for working with any liquid media - alcohol ink, watercolor, etc. Highly recommend.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great paper alternative, made from calcium carbonate
*by J***A on February 6, 2023*

After hearing about terraskin rock paper from a watercolorist friend, I decided to try this paper, which is also made from calcium carbonate. I love it!! I've tried it with colored pencils, pastels, watercolor, graphite pencil, ink, liquid acrylic, Neocolor I and II crayons, and gouache, and tried layering different media, like pencil and ink over watercolor washes. It is really awesome. The paper is very durable and smooth and handles wet and dry media equally well. It is somewhat absorbent, but not nearly as much as traditional watercolor paper. I was surprised by the way it took pastels, and the watercolor washes are amazing. This pad, 11 x 14, is 160 lb., a heavier weight than the smaller pads, which are 100 lb. I've also used mineral spirits to blend the colored pencils. I have not used heat or alcohol ink, so I cannot comment on that. It is definitely worth trying! I think this may turn out to be my favorite art paper.
