So I thought I'd use it as the food cooler. However, putting in a bag of ice and putting food on top, leaves little room. But even if it manages to hold food for 2-4 people with ice, the ice doesn't last long. I'm not sure I've owned a cooler that the ice lasted so little time. For a couple hours tailgating or at home party it should be ok. But it would be totally worthless all day on a boat or camping. In fact I'm now using one simply as a box for dry items (foil, trash bags, zip bags, seasonings, etc). But that is a pretty expensive storage box. I gave the larger size 3 stars. It holds bottles (if not many) and fully loaded is easy to carry. But the smaller size of this one lost all appeal to me. I'll give it 2-stars if you really need something hard side this small. But even if you do, I think there are better and cheaper options by moving away from the stacker feature. I myself would not buy again even specifically for tailgating. Just the size I was looking for! Low sides, but is still wide and long enough for packaged meats, frozens, maybe even boxed pizza. I would say you can fit a case of soda cans inside with a little ice on top. Color: Gray is more like clay/ brown. Cons:Damaged in shipping due to poor packing. Sorry Amazon. I would have gone with a 5-stars if it were packed better. FYI: Lid does not lock. Lid has no hinges. Not a problem for me, but may be for some uses. Overall, I am happy with it for my needs.
