She is 5 and it was easy for her to put together and gave her a lot of confidence in her creative skills. She was excited to show it off. The brightness of the fairy lights are just right and make her bedroom just light enough at bedtime so it makes it functional as well as pretty. The only downside for me is that it isn't very secure, which I guess is because otherwise how would you put the bits inside.
