I don't do all that soaking. When I need to fix a nail I carefully peel upwards from the cuticle, then rasp off the top coat of the tip. Leaving the tip in place, I usually can just add a new coat or two of top coat on the whole nail. The base peels off fairly well, without taking a lot of the nail off, so that's working for me. I had one tip break so I added a clear false nail tip under the nail, redid the white pearly tip, then put a base coat on all and a top coat. A couple nails got too long so I use nail clippers to shorten, then shaped with a file, then put a couple layers of top coat ,making sure to go around the cut end of the nail. So far, so good. This must be used with gel polish that is cured under a UV light. **Q: I forgot to ask how hard this is to remove. Do I have to file a lot or just break the seal and soak with acetone?** A: You can break the top layer and soak, but that takes too long for my liking.
