## Description

When you're ready to start your next oil painting, pick up Shiva pianistic artist colors instead of a brush. Manufactured in the united states, paintstiks are ideal for sketching and outlining, Shiva pianistic artist colors are refined linseed oil blended with a quality pigment and solidified into a convenient stick form. Paintstiks can be spread or blended and used in conjunction with conventional oil paint. There are no unpleasant odors or fumes, so you can virtually paint anywhere, at any time, on almost any surface from paper to panel to fabric. Paintstiks are "self-sealing". That is, they form a protective film so the color won't rub off or dry out. Yet they always stay moist and fresh, providing an indefinite shelf life because they reseal in 24 hours. This film is easily removed by peeling it away with a paper towel, or rubbing it off gently. It can also be removed by carefully paring it with a knife (it can be sharpened to a point in this matter). When the stick has begun to wear to the edge of the sleeve, simply loosen the sleeve from the oil stick at the seam, open the sleeve and push the stick forward. Press the sleeve around the oil stick again and repeat the peeling process as needed. Remember that Shiva pianistic artist colors are oil color, the same as tube oils, so all the same techniques, mediums and surfaces can be used including varnishes. Paintstiks are available in 55 professional colors, 22 iridescent and 12 student colors.

Review: pigment is deep and saturated - I love Shiva sticks. They are messy and wonderful and blend and I can keep adding color and shading, etc. I use them on fabric. any fabric works but it must be heat set whether you wash it or not. Best for not washing, just adding beautiful color.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I use these iridescent crayons for adding to a wood finish? I just got done staining one of my art projects oil paint/linseed. Would this stick?**
A: That's a good question.  They are oil based 'sticks' I am guessing that the iridescent is mica added for the shine.  I'd say try it on a little project a small wooden box, or the like.  I've just use them on fabric.  They leave a soft hand to the fabric which acrylic can't seem to do.  You do have a drying period, but I think a day or two would be fine before you seal your wood.

**Q: Are these the full sticks or the mini sticks?**
A: I don't know how big full sticks are.  These are 4 3/4" long and 3/4" diameter.  I use them on gourds.  They are easy to use and last a long time.

**Q: What are the colors in the irridescent 12 pack?**
A: Its like a pearl, light gold, shimmering orange, red, pink, reen, blue, lavander, brown, dark grey and dark gold. Don't know what else is missing. The colours are slightly pearl-ish.

**Q: I just went to a class using these on fabric. Is there a way to store so they don't dry out quickly?  Seems really wasteful.**
A: No, Not that I have found.  I have to chip they a bit to get the color to come to the fore.  Butit does show that they dry for paintings and other uses.  Oil pastels don't

I love Shiva sticks. They are messy and wonderful and blend and I can keep adding color and shading, etc. I use them on fabric. any fabric works but it must be heat set whether you wash it or not. Best for not washing, just adding beautiful color.

This was a gift for my mother-in-law. She is very artistic, but I really did not think she would do much with them. She has not used these to paying the pieces of furniture. She blamed the oils and each piece is one of a kind and looks like it should be sold in a high dollar store. I am hoping that since the gift came from me, I may get a piece all for my own home!!
