But I was unsure of a lot about how it works before I purchased it. So hopefully this review can provide some additional insights on the item. 1st, the item comes as 4 pieces: 1) the pole itself 2) the mounts, 3) the end caps and 4) the screws. When you see it you may think how the heck am I supposed to put it together?? But it's pretty simple. The screws are self-drilling, so you don't have to drill any holes first. You'll have to put some muscle into it to get them into the poles. And once in, they stay snug so no worrying about it needing to "catch". Hope this helps! ### ⭐ smaller then most handrails and the paint quality is horrible- assembly method is poor design *by L***. on Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2020* Not happy for the money spent. - not easy to put together as a 8 ft section comes in 2 pieces. which is fine except by the time you get the insert in and the ring on where the 2 pieces come together the paint on the ring is chipped. you can't get the ring on completely on the last inserted end unless you really want to destroy the paint. The pole is self for the money is much smaller then expected - and the paint is very thin and also scratches easily - by the time we get it installed it will look horrible. the end caps don't fit all that snug, I hope they don't end up falling out once hung. very disappointed, but at this point we are stuck.
