On my calipers, it was .75 inches OD. The new is made of aluminum w/ the same plastic endcaps as the original. Only issue is the new one is .73 inches OD, and completely slides left and right in my lamppost. .02 inches DOES make a diff. I understand its by design to make sure it'll fit... it does. I just need to figure out away to make it not slide so easily. If the wind blowes, its gonna move- thats how loose it is. No friction at all... but once again, I'm sure this is by design. Maybe wrap it w/ a layer of electric tape, or a drop of epoxy glue.
