They also seem to last forever, I get at least ten years out of one. If the dial is set on 1500 watts it’s using 1500 watts and producing 1500 watts of heat. All electric heat sources are as efficient as they’re ever gonna be. **Q: Where is this heater made?** A: I'm not sure, but the quality is not very good, ...very flimsy. I bought one that looked just like it at McCoy's Lumber in Kerrville Texas for a better price and the metal gauge was thicker and the unit was far superior. **Q: can it run on battery as well?** A: No **Q: We have this unit. It does not want to stop heating. We have tried numerous times to set the temperature, with no luck. Is there a trick to this?** A: No not really a trick, so to speak. First make sure the heater is blowing heat not just air. Turn the top knob to high heat. There is four click stops for that knob. From the far left to the far right the settings are, off, fan, low heat, high heat. The thermostat knob is the bottom knob. Next turn that knob all the way to the far right, that will make the heater stay on, no matter how warm the room gets. When the room reaches the temperature you want, Slowly turn the bottom knob (thermostat knob) back to the left until the heater just stops heating, and the fan just stops. Stop turning. Next slowly turn the thermostat knob back to the right until the heater just turns back on. Stop turning. In this instance think of turning the thermostat knob to set the room temperature as a delicate slow turn. That will be a general thermostat setting you want. That is what I do to set a certain room temperature. I have used this method on many portable heaters with a thermostat knob available.
