It's quite firm though, and doesn't budge from where you put it. I have it attached to the side of a bookcase, sticking out horizontally, and it doesn't droop down. The clamp is plenty strong enough for this as well. It's a lot brighter than my previous cheap LED reading lamp, though of course it can be dimmed if needed. I have it in white and it looks pretty classy. The only down side is that, like all these USB powered lamps, it flickers slightly if the cable moves. I really wish someone would make a non-USB one that doesn't cost a fortune, but I guess the off the shelf components make it cheaper to manufacture. However, it looks like a fairly standard LED strip inside, so I’m sure you could find a handy electrician to rewire it at some point. It’s got a very long lifespan anyway **Q: I need a lamp I can secure to a work bench. Will the clamp work on a bench edge that's a little over 4 inches in height?** A: I am afraid not. The clamp is just over 3 inches max. Good light though **Q: whats the distance from clamp to light, the gooseneck part?** A: 420mm (17 inches), the light is 280mm (11+ 1/4 inches) long, it also has a dimmer and light type mode for tired eyes, I would recommend it. **Q: Would this fit on a massage bed?** A: It might but would depend on how high you would need the light to be above the table. Bright when turned up it's great for crafting, jigsaw, sewing or reading etc. really easy to use and looks good.
