Just insert them slowly and in small stages with a soldering iron so that you don’t overdo the heating and lose control of the hole size you are inserting it in to. I use these with PLA and PETG materials with a lower powered soldering iron tip inserted into the centre. I used 8mm and drilled out a hole but it taking ages. About locking in place i make a tool but of course you can buy a proper one. Ps. Plenty video on YT.
