I think you could easily use this safe at night without waking anyone. The metal appears thick enough to deter thieves. It has 4 screws on the back for wall mounting, but I think wall mounting this would be difficult given it's large depth. It's much better stored under a bed or in a large cupboard. It is also supplied with 4 AA batteries which means you don't have to hunt around for some to get set up.
