Loving it! - It's qieter than my old one, I should say it's a quiet kettle, it pours well boils quickly, lovely blue colour, it will show limescale obviously, within a few days, mine isn't because I'm using bottled spring water in it.i did use tap water for a day or two and the kettle looked very murky and I did have to put limescale remover in it and clean the metal plate in the bottom. I live in an extremely hard water area so that is why. Some of us prefer to buy American-made products because we want to support the domestic economy and/or reduce the environmental costs of having items shipped from overseas. Some of us also want to make sure that we're not supporting companies that use forced labor, and one way of doing that is by looking into where the product is manufactured. I can't speak for the OP, but not everyone who wants to know where their products come from is doing so because they're racist or xenophobic, for Pete's sake. **Q: If it is plugged into a timed outlet that powers on in the morning, and you have it turned on, will it power on and boil the water for you?** A: Yes, it will do that. I have mine on a Wemo switch, connected with my alarm. When I turn the alarm off, the water begins heating in the kitchen and is usually finished just as I get there. I also tied the switch into Google Home and can say "... make me some tea" to get it going. Because I am a dork. It works so long as the pot is full, switched on and the Wemo switched off. When I forget... it's a sad day. **Q: Are there any plastic parts inside the kettle (that has contact with the water)?** A: No persistent plastict contact with water, but the plastic top contacts water when you empty the kettle. **Q: The lid opens only about 45 degrees.
