I think if you have that charcoal taste, these aren't going to be the ones to go for. However, they are great for long cooks. They seem to burn far longer. I was able to get a 10 hour cook with the snake method but far fewer briquettes. But for something like burgers and steak, I think it lacks that depth and flavour of lumpwood. One thing I do love about these is the smoke - they seem to chuck out a lot less which makes them great if you don't want to annoy your neighbours.
