Apart from this, I find it useful and would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs good writing skills as well as to English as a Foreign Language teachers. There are rules as well as practice exercises, and there is a key at the back, all of which are good value for money. The main reason I do not consider this grammar practice book perfect is its part that discusses punctuation. It is weak, for it does not properly highlight any British/American differences. Nor does it make any acknowledgement of or reference to what alternative or competing style guides, for example, APA or MLA, say on punctuation. That said, it has to be admitted that now it is an inescapable fact that there are many Englishes rather than one, so it might well be impossible to write a grammar book that will account for them all. On a more positive note, I do believe that there is a place for prescriptive grammar books now. The authors just have to say which domains or international examinations in English they are applicable to. When Cambridge or ETS examinations are concerned, the reader would also find it reassuring if endorsements by the respective examining bodies were obtained or a disclaimer were made that certain rules were rather the authors' recommendations made in good faith (than the sort of rules that had to be followed at all times). I look forward to seeing the next edition published with a much stronger section on punctuation. PS I was also disappointed that the book was not available for purchase for Kindle paperwhite holders at the time I placed my order (Dec 2016); it was necessary to use a different device.
