Review: UK useless - Don't buy this in the UK ,I contacted Uniden in the States after buying an R8W on desertcart US only to be told it is not intended for use in the UK the data bases are America and Canada only ,where most of the speed traps are radar based on K and Ka band Here in the UK laser is the most preferred weapon of revenue ,for which this or any other device is pretty much useless ,so if you want to risk a term in an HM prison the only effective tool is a laser jammer The British police are way ahead of the curve on traffic revenue enforcement

**Q: is eastside trading considered a uniden dealer**
A: As long as you keep a copy of your sales receipt/order confirmation with the date of purchase and where it was purchased from- Uniden will honor the 1 year warranty.

**Q: This compatible with the older radar detector hardwire kit?**
A: Yes it is.

**Q: Got hit by what i believe was a lidar/laser, “lf16754” and it never alerted. is there a setting that i might have changed that caused it to not sound?**
A: While I believe it's possible to turn off the Laswer alerting, I'd be willing to bet it didn't see the laser hit you. The clear plastic piece sticking out of the top of the detector is what's used to report laser and it requires line of sight or a very strong bounce to accurately detect. 

I haven't seen it tested explicitly, but the location where you mount the R8 will greatly affect the laser reporting. Too low or too high on the windshield might drastically drop the sensor's rear visibility. 

All that said, because laser determines your speed in about 1/3 of a second, it would be unlikely for you to avoid any speeding ticket that would come from an R8 laser report

**Q: Do it work with the waze app?**
A: It does not have the capability of connecting to the Waze app.

Highly recommend checking Vortex Radar channel on Youtube for help with setup and configuration for your area and needs. Definitely update this regularly, it is feature packed. No issues after 3 years in the summer heat. Display is perfect and can be configured multiple ways. Audio quality is great, and customizable. Durable and for the most part sticks to the windshield good, although it has fallen in extreme heat once or twice. No damage when that has happened. 10/10 would buy again, zero complaints or regrets. Best detector on the market 2023-2026.
