The Dry setting is recommended with herbs like Rosemary, Lavender and Thyme to reduce moisture before infusing, or storing for later use. **Q: Why such poor reviews but has almost 5 stars?** A: I don't know why poor reviews. I love my Levo II **Q: Aside from helping minimize decarb smell, what is the benefit to this machine over decarbing in oven and infusing via crockpot or other method??** A: Consistent temp is the hardest to maintain. Takes out the guess work. One stop shop to dry, activate, and infuse. Recipes seem inconsistent for time and temp but it’s a step up from trying to bake or Sous vide. Plus it looks really nice on the shelf. Those that know already know. **Q: Can it be used for alcohol based tinctures?** A: Solvents such as alcohol should not be used with electronic devices like LEVO for safety reasons. I did a one ounce flower run with 6 sticks of butter ... seemed like that was very near the 'max fill' level. Actual yield came out to approximately 20 ounces of infused butter. I plan to try a half ounce to 20 ounces of Ghee next time to avoid the small amount of milk solids that settle at the bottom of the infusion pot. Remember to 'activate' twice for an ounce of flower before infusion and that each new cycle requires some "warming up" time. Plan ahead so your 10 hour infusion will be running overnight. Easy to clean when still a little warm.
