They are loud. I have the main volume on the speakers at 40% and use the pc volume and it is plenty of sound. They are clear and crisp. One side note, I tried to use my pc to power them and the speakers were buzzing. That was because I plugged them into a generic computer. I switch to a 5v ac adapter and no buzzing even with volume up to 100%. Super clean. ### ⭐ The high pitched whining sound drove me crazy. *by J***T on August 7, 2017* Just returned these. These are definitely not $50 speakers. Maybe $20 speakers. When the speakers are turned on, there is this high pitched whining noise that comes from them. I adjusted the input to the speaker, and the volume on the speakers, and it was still there. I was hoping to have these on all of the time, because they would be the output from my Amazon Echo, but the whining sound will drive you crazy when music isn't playing though them. You have to turn them off. The output sound is not great either. I've had much cheaper computer speakers that sound way better. The only upside is the wood paneling makes them look kind of neat. They look good, but they slant downwards and sound pretty bad. No place to plug headphones in, lots of static and it has almost no bass to it. I was thoroughly confused when I heard these working. I thought I did something wrong. That's how bad it is.
