Review: Great for video, great mirrorless cam - After owning this product for over 3 years, I can say that I am 100% satisfied with this purchase. I purchased this camera to start creating media content for my music and other online content (live streaming, highlights, etc). The included lens in the bundle was perfect to get me started because I had virtually no knowledge of photography or videography so I didn’t know what lens I would need. The camera is no slouch, you will need to educate yourself if you are a newbie like me. Luckily there is a plethora of easy to digest information for this camera. Highlights: - great stabilization - ability to manual focus or use auto - second screen flips out and rotates - touch screen - holds up well after 3 years I love this camera.
Review: Best camera for recording video - I spent so much time reviewing cameras as this was such an expensive purchase it came down to the Sony a7iii and the canon EOS R. From the 3 cameras this one just came above in all the categories except in low light but as I live in Arizona all my shooting will be in the day. I love using this camera it has such an amazing drop down menu. if I was going to be taking pictures I would not have chosen this as micro 4/3 isn't great for pictures. I love this camera and the auto focus is good but you just have to use manual instead of auto but not much of a con!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can u shoot video in a raw format?**
A: The GH5 does not record RAW video, but 4:2:2 10bit internally & using the VLOG-L picture profile can get you a similar dynamic range. You can also output to an external recorder, like a Ninja, Assassin or Odyssey to record in Apple Prores to get similar flexibility as RAW video. Every other amazing feature makes up for the fact that it does not shoot in RAW. Voted the best indie filmmaking camera of 2017.

**Q: I'm new to shooting with dslr & need a recommended lens for the gh5. range is <$1000. what's your go-to lens for most of everything?**
A: I will be using the Olympus F2.8, 12-40mm lens, I really like this lens because it covers wide to telephoto, since its a zoom lens. Another really great aspect is that it has a constant 2.8 aperture, meaning that if you use it at 40mm or at 12mm the amount of light coming through the lens is the same. Lastly what is important to me is that since micro four thirds cameras are half the sensor to the standard 35mm sensor, the larger the aperture the more shallow depth of field is possible (which is really the downfall of a smaller sensor)...... Another possibility is the Panasonic 12-60mm f2.8-4 which is what this camera is being marketed with, and is a good option but in another way. The Panasonic comes with image stabilization that is suppose to pair well with the Panasonic GH5 bodys in camera stabilization which is a plus, but at the same time it's not a constant aperture. This means that when you zoom in, the light coming in through your lens will decrease, which is truly annoying especially for video work. But another plus is that its zooming capabilities extend to 60mm, or 120mm compared to a 35mm sensor, and this is an extremely versatile range to have available. Overall they both have some pros and some cons, but the Olympus might be cheaper especially if its used since its its been out a couple of years, and the Panasonic is just now being released. Hope this helps.

**Q: I've had my gh5 since it came out, the only problem i have is that it overheats. and i'm wondering why, do i have a defective camera?**
A: Yes. Definitely something is wrong. I have run mine for literally 3 hours non-stop recording drag racing with the cameras (I have 3 Gh5s) on tripods in the sun. I have never had one overheat after several hundred hours accumulated over the years. The only thing I have had happened is the sun shining on the screen got it so hot it turned black, but comes right back if you flip the screen so its in the shade

**Q: I'm getting a green light on my charger when i insert my exhausted battery. is this normal? or do i need to exchange my charger?**
A: Green light means it is charging, when the light turns off, it is charged. Not a very intuitive design.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Get the Firmware Upgrades!
*by A***T on December 29, 2017*

Love this camera! Plain and Simple. I had no experience with any camera that didn't come on an iPhone, so to say I was a novice when I bought this, is an understatement. It's taken a lot of practicing, reading and more importantly Youtube watching to get a handle on all the settings (There are a ton! -- For a novice anyway). My only problem I have now is, I take so many videos and pictures, I have to massively increase my storage! The only Con I can put against this camera is the price point for any novice picture taker. You can still do a great job of taking photos and creating Youtube videos on much less expensive models. OK, I guess the 2nd CON I would put against this camera is how to add the V LOG upgrade. They mail you the product code and then you have to hit the Japan website to push/pull files. This needs to be done digitally!
